About Bull Head Exotics
The Ranch
Bull Head Ranch is located in Leakey Texas, the heart of the West Texas Hill Country! Measuring at 800 Acres in the Edwards Plateau, the ranch terrain begins with calm, gentle rolling hills covered in beautiful grass flats but quickly turns to steep canyons, wide seasonal creeks, and rugged hills as you travel deeper down the dirt roads. Located on the ranch are two ponds surrounded with native trees, grasses, birds, and of course deer and exotic game!
The Wildlife
During your time at Bull Head Ranch you will see some exciting wildlife from all over the World! Since 2017, this property has only been hunted privately by one small family. Due to the low hunting pressure the wildlife on the property has flourished! Currently there are self sustaining herds of Elk, Axis Deer, Fallow Deer, Native White-tailed Deer, Sika Deer, Scimitar Horned Oryx, Blackbuck Antelope, and Aoudad! We also have a miniature donkey named Jack that loves Carrots and Apples!
Aside from hunting, the pond is stocked with Bass, Perch, and Catfish to fill the needs of the fisherman in the group!
The Hunt
Due to the terrain of the land, if you could flatten it out and remeasure, you would come up with a whole lot more than 800 Acres! These animals are wild, have established territories and all behave in different manners. Due to this we offer a number of different hunting methods to harvest your exotic animal. We may hunt from a blind, conduct a spot and stalk or even use vehicles in a safari style hunt to locate specific animals.
Our favorite hunt is for Trophy Bull Elk in peak rut. There is nothing comparable to conducting a spot and stalk, hiking through the hills and down dry creek beds early in the morning, hiding behind cedar trees, with elk charging each other, bugling as if they were singing a song. Blind style hunting is always available and is the only method used during the white-tailed deer season. In the event that the determination is made to use a safari style method, NO SHOOTING IS DONE FROM THE VEHICLE! Here at Bull Head Ranch, we have never shot from a vehicle, due to this while you are driving throughout the property your chances to see axis across the deep ravines resting on hilltops, blackbuck grazing in the grass flats, and Oryx taking a drink from the pond are as high as they come! Other ranches often times shoot from vehicles and these animals are smart enough to corelate a vehicle with the big mean BOOM stick and take off! When we use the safari method, we simply exit the vehicle and walk 100 yards away from it before making the shot! We may incorporate any of these three methods in any order to ensure your hunt is both safe and a success!
The Hunting Headquarters
At the ranch, we have two lodging options located on property. We host friends, families, and corporate groups!
- The Lodge: "The Lodge" is a simple bunkhouse perfect for small groups and families. It is a 3 bed, 1 bath cabin that consists of two bunkrooms and one small Master bedroom for the boss or parents! There are a total of 6 hardwood bunkbeds, one queen size bed, and both a full kitchen and bathroom! There is also a covered porch! The lodge sleeps 7-8 people comfortably!
- The Ranch House: The Ranch House is positioned between two ponds and overlooks beautiful rolling hills as far as the eye can see. This is where all meals, mid hunt breaks, and non-hunting activities take place! The Ranch House sleeps between 10-16+ people and can be paired with the lodge to accommodate even bigger parties!
- RV hookups are on site!
- In the event you would like to lodge off-property, we can offer many 'nearby' recommendations at time of reservation!
The Food
Here at Bull Head we have three fully functional kitchens, two BBQ pit/smokers, and a huge cast iron fire pit for cooking of all types! Most of our guests choose to have us take care of all the meals during their stay to keep their valuable time out in the field! With years of "ranch cooking" experience, our staff prepares delicious five star meals of all types! Please advise if you have any preferences or dietary requirements and we will do our best to accommodate you!
If you prefer to plan/arrange your own meals, that is ok! If you are lodging with us, you will have a full kitchen in your home away from home!
All meals are typically served in the ranch houses dinning room unless otherwise desired. For more information give us a call!
Nearby Attractions
The Ranch is located 120 Miles North West of The San Antonio International Airport, 65 miles South West from Kerrville, and 60 miles North of Uvalde.
Most of the attractions are roughly one hour from the front gate of the ranch. Your one hour drive will be spent winding through the hills filled with some of the most breathtaking views that one can witness.

- South Llano River State Park
- Twisted Sister Motorcycle Route (we are in the center!)
- Leakey, Campwood, and Rocksprings are small nearby towns full of mom and pop shops, bars, and restaurants.
- If you feel like you need a little bit more of a "city feel" Kerrville and Uvalde have just about anything you would have at home!
